Song of the Day : Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen
What is a photo bomber you may ask? Well, we weren’t all that sure either. Thanks to our good friends at UrbanDictionary.com, we were able to find the most comprehensive definition. According to their website, a photo bomber is “someone who either intentionally or unintentionally ruins an otherwise normal photo. The ‘photo bomber’ will be doing such things as: making faces, gestures, naked, or getting naked, in a costume, or doing some other equally hilarious action.”
It doesn’t seem like The Boss is doing anything to ruin this couple’s photos… maybe this is his take on guerilla marketing for his new release – The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town?
The day started off innocently enough. New couple Ed Dwyer and Jennifer Smith were walking along the beach in Manasquan, N.J. when the impossible happened. A comet crashing the ocean would have been more plausible than what these two fans were about to witness; sitting by the froth, taking in the waves with a contemplative grin sat the man, the myth, the legend: Bruce Springsteen.
Carefully, the couple approached the introspective artist as he sat soaking in the inlet’s beauty. Dwyer happened to be a minstrel himself, swaying along the waves with his two loves: his fiancée and his guitar. Standing next to the legend, he outstretched his instrument, presenting a second-hand peace-offering. The guitar soon ended up in Springsteen’s hands.
According to Dwyer, “I figured if five people are hanging out and one of them is Bruce, he should have the guitar. So I passed it to him. [Bruce Springsteen] was real laid back and cool.”
Springsteen joined in for a short photo session, toting guitar, shades, and good times. With the upcoming documentary revealing the pain-staking process of his 1978 sessions, it is nice to know that The Boss really believes in the everyday man. What other rock star can you think of who would be so kind to treat two fans to such a treat? We can’t think of any. Bruce continually proves himself as a fantastic inspiration on the music-making process, on how to be humble and kind, and most importantly, how to be a professional photo bomber.
